Q - Can the VEI (vented) or EI (vent-free) with Remote control be turned on when the power is out? A - Yes. The VEI and EI are powered by 4 AA batteries. We have an accessory (item #GV60-AC) that allows the VEI/EI systems to be powered by your house current. However, out-of-the-box these systems do not require electricity other than that provided by the batteries, making the VEI and EI systems perfect as emergency sources of warmth during power outages.
