All of our Valve Vanishers with Electronic Ignition are powered by four (4) AA Batteries that are installed into a separate battery holder that is connected to the control module with a 48" long wire. This allows the batteries, which discharge at 135 degrees F, the lowest failure point of any component in the system, to be placed away from the heat, ideally outside of the firebox on the hearth, or in the front left corner of the firebox in the path of cooling air. The battery pack must not be placed in the rear of the firebox, as this is the hottest zone of the fireplace (I call it the "oven") with no cooling air.

See photos of Valve Vanisher VEI systems  where you may see the battery pack locations to the left of the Valve Vanisher Chassis.
