My remote controlled (SE-RE-RPK3E-RMC1E), gas log burner lights when I turn the valve knob from pilot to on and I can't get it to turn off.  What do I do?

With the unit lit, please follow the steps below:

1) Place the receiver into the "Remote" position

2) Push and hold the learn button down for 10-12 seconds and release

3) Push and release the learn button once

4A) For On/Off Remote: Push the "On" button on the remote then push "Off"

4B) For Variable Flame Remote: Push and hold the "On/High" button on the remote down until you hear clicking at the valve (approximately 3 seconds), then push "Off"

If the unit does not respond, please try replacing the 4-AA Batteries in the receiver and try the above sequence again.

If this does not correct the problem, please turn the valve knob back to the pilot position and follow the TROUBLESHOOTING steps below:

*For the On/Off Remote System (SE or RPK3E)

     (Photo of Solenoid)

1) Take a regular screw driver and remove the solenoid from the valve.  (This is the small box connected to the valve, next to the valve knob with the black and red wire attached)

2) With the solenoid removed from the valve;

   A) Place the receiver in the "Remote" position

   B) Push the learn button once

   C) Push the "On" button on the remote

   D) Push the "Off" button on the remote

The Base of the solenoid should spring outward once the "Off" button is pushed on the remote.  (When pushing the "On" button on the remote, the base of the solenoid needs to be manually pushed all the way in)  Try this once or twice and replace into the valve (Finger tip tight), and repeat the 4 original steps at the top of this page.

*For the Variable Remote System (RE or RMC1E)

   (Photo of Motor Drive with arrow pointing to the area to place crescent wrench)

1) Take a crescent wrench and remove the motor drive from the valve.  Note: There is a section on the motor drive that has flat surfaces to allow the wrench.  (This is the round cylinder connected to the valve, next to the valve knob with the black and red wire attached)

2) With the motor drive removed from the valve;

  A) Place the receiver in the "Remote" position

  B) Push the learn button once

  C) Push and hold the "On/High" button on the remote for approximately 3-5 seconds

  D) Push the "Off" button on the remote

The Base of the motor drive should pull all the way in when the "On/High" button is pushed and held for approximately 3-5 seconds.  When pushing the "Off" button on the remote, the base of the motor drive should extend all the way outward, approximately 1/4".  Try this once or twice and replace the motor drive into the valve (Finger tip tight), and repeat the 4 original steps at the top of this page.
