Q: We want to purchase a vent-free gas log set.  We have the grates from when we burnt wood. Can we use these grates instead of having to buy new?

A: You will not be able to use your existing wood burning grate with a vent-free gas log set.  All vent-free gas log sets are designed and certified as a complete unit:  Logs, burner, grate and safety control.  The burner and controls and attached to the grate, and the logs are designed to fit specifically onto the particular grate unit with each set.  You cannot remove the burner or controls from the grate as they are all integral components of the assembly.

The only exception is our CoalFire sets.  You may use the burner/control assembly with either of the three basket choices Rasmussen offers, or use it with your own basket or fret.  The burner and controls of CoalFire are not attached to the basket.
