Q: Hello, I have an old home with coal fireplaces. I have been very pleased with your C9B vent-free unit (16.5" width). However, I have one living room fireplace with a 24-inch width. Can you custom
make me a coal inset to fit this wider fireplace?
A: The C9B consumes the most gas allowed by the unvented heater standard.
To make a wider set, we would need to use more gas in order to provide
adequate visual flame, as well as about $20,000 for the design and
certification costs. We will not sell an unvented product that is not
certified, so a custom unvented unit is not feasible. Accordingly, the
C9B is the widest CoalFire set we can provide.
